Examples of Explaining Answers/Methods

  • Addition/Subtraction
    • Using Doubles: 3+4=7 because it is one more than 3+3
    • Using 10 Facts: 9+4 is the same as 10+3
  • Multiplication/Division
    • Doubling Method: 4×6= 24 because 4×3=12 and 12+12=24
    • Using Known Facts: 4×6=24 because 4×5=20 and 4 more is 24
