2024-25 Welcome Letter!

Dear Barcroft Families,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! We are absolutely thrilled to have your children as part of our Barcroft community. As we prepare for this exciting year ahead, we want to share some important information to help ensure a smooth start.

Class Assignments and Bus Information:

Teacher assignments and bus information will be available in ParentVue by the end of the day on Tuesday, August 20. If you need assistance with logging into ParentVue, please contact the main office.

School Hours:

Barcroft Elementary will continue with the same schedule as last year: starting at 9:00 a.m. and dismissing at 3:50 p.m. Students should arrive between 8:40 a.m. and 8:50 a.m. Families arriving after 9:00 a.m. will need to sign in their children at the main office. For late arrivals and early departures, parents must record these in the office.

Barcroft Open House:

We invite all families to meet teachers and visit classrooms at our Open House on Friday, August 23, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. This event is for students in Pre-K through 5th grade.

School Supplies:

Please refer to the grade-specific supply lists available on our school website to ensure your child has the necessary materials for the year.

Arrival:

School doors open at 8:40 a.m. Students should arrive between 8:40 a.m. and 8:55 a.m. We encourage students to arrive by 8:50 a.m. to have time for breakfast and be settled before instruction begins at 9:00 a.m. Students arriving after 9:00 a.m. are considered tardy and must sign in at the office. For the first week of school, and as needed, safety patrols and staff will assist students in finding their classrooms.

• Door 1: Bus riders and 2nd through 5th grade students
• Door 11: Kindergarten and 1st grade students
• Relocatables: Pre-K students

Breakfast and Lunch:

Barcroft Elementary offers free breakfast and lunch to all students. No applications are required. Meals will be served outside unless weather conditions or bees make it necessary to move indoors. School menus can be found on the website here.

Dismissal:

Please discuss with your child how they will be getting home on the first day. Dismissal will be as follows:

• Door #1: Bus riders and car riders
• Door #11: Kindergarten and 1st graders being picked up or walking
• Door #5: 2nd through 5th graders being picked up or walking
• East Campus Doors: Pre-K students

Children must be at least 8 years old to walk home alone. At Open House, you can pick up a name tag to indicate your child’s teacher and their dismissal plan.

Dismissal Changes:

If your child’s after-school plans change, please notify the homeroom teacher by sending a note or email that morning. Note that the office cannot process changes after 3:15 p.m. Additionally, pickups from classrooms are not available between 3:25 p.m. and dismissal to minimize classroom disruptions.

Appointments:

To ensure your child performs well academically, it’s important for them to be present for instruction. If you need to pick up your child early, please plan extra time to park and check in at the front office. Sign out your child through the Raptor system, and allow 5 to 10 minutes for them to come to the office. Early pickups are only available until 3:25 p.m. to avoid disrupting instruction.

Extended Day Program Information:

For information on the APS extended day program at Barcroft, including the application, please click here.Please keep an eye out for regular communication from our school and check the Barcroft website frequently. This year APS will be using Parent Square for primary communication with families. Thank you for your support and cooperation.
